Jewellery Photography in Mumbai

There’s a particular kind of pressure that comes with photographing jewellery.

The piece you’re holding might be worth lakhs. The client has been working on this collection for months — maybe years. And they’re handing it to you, trusting that what comes out the other end will make someone stop scrolling, lean in, and feel something.

That’s not product photography. That’s a different craft entirely.

My name is Pankaj Mathur. I’ve been doing this from Mumbai for over 14 years — specialising in diamond, gold, platinum, and silver jewellery — and if you’re reading this page, you’re probably wondering whether I’m the right fit for your brand.

Let me try to answer that honestly.

What I Actually Do Differently

Most photographers will tell you they have “the best equipment” and “a keen eye for detail.” I’d rather show you.

Jewellery is the hardest category to photograph well. A diamond ring under bad light looks like a piece of glass. A platinum bracelet on the wrong background disappears. A necklace shot at the wrong angle loses its architecture entirely.

Getting it right requires:

I’ve spent 14 years refining exactly this, from my studio in Mumbai. The brands I’ve worked with — Platinum Guild India, Titan Skinn, and others in the fine jewellery space — trusted us with pieces that needed to perform in print catalogues, ecommerce listings, billboard campaigns, and social media simultaneously.

The Kind of Work We Take On

Tabletop / Still Life Jewellery Photography This is our bread and butter. Rings, earrings, necklaces, bangles, bracelets — shot on creative backgrounds with controlled studio lighting. The output works for ecommerce, catalogues, and marketing campaigns. Every piece gets individual attention; we don’t batch-and-rush.

Jewellery with Models Sometimes a piece needs context. A necklace draped on a neckline tells a different story than the same necklace on a white background. We handle full production — model coordination, hair and makeup, styling, and the shoot itself — so you have one point of contact, not five.

IIJS & Exhibition Shoots The India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) is serious business. Brands need polished, ready-to-use imagery before the show floor opens. We’ve done this before and we understand the timelines and pressure involved. If you’re preparing for IIJS 2026, reach out now — last-minute slots fill fast.

Social Media & Reel Content Static images are one thing. But brands now need short-form video content for Instagram and YouTube — product reveals, close-up detail reels, behind-the-scenes pieces. We shoot both stills and video from the same session to get you more usable content per day of production.

A Few Things Clients Often Ask Me

“How long does a jewellery shoot take?” A tabletop session for 10–15 pieces, with 2–3 setups per piece, typically takes a full day. If you’re bringing in 50+ pieces for a catalogue shoot, we plan it across multiple days with a clear shot list so nothing gets missed.

“Do I need to be present during the shoot?” I’d recommend it for the first session, at least for the first hour. You know your pieces better than anyone — which angle is the hero angle for each design, which stone is the star, what the campaign is meant to communicate. That conversation at the beginning saves a lot of back-and-forth later.

“What about delivery timelines?” Edited images are typically delivered within 5–7 working days of the shoot. Rush delivery (2–3 days) is possible for an additional charge. We deliver high-resolution files optimised for both print and digital use.

“Do you shoot outside Mumbai?” Yes. We’ve handled shoots in other cities and can travel for the right project. For on-location shoots outside Mumbai, travel and accommodation are billed separately.

Why Mumbai Jewellery Brands Come to Us

Mumbai is India’s jewellery capital — the biggest manufacturers, the most established brands, and the most competitive market in the country are all here. A jewellery brand in Mumbai doesn’t struggle to find a photographer. It struggles to find one who understands the business side of jewellery, not just the technical side of photography.

After 14 years of working in this specific niche, here’s what I’ve learned:

Brands We’ve Worked With

We’ve had the privilege of working with Platinum Guild India, Titan Skinn, and several established names in the diamond and fine jewellery space across Mumbai. Some of our clients have been coming back for years — not because of contracts, but because the work keeps performing.

Ready to Talk?

If you’re planning a jewellery shoot — whether it’s a single collection, an IIJS campaign, or an ongoing ecommerce requirement — I’d rather have a conversation before we talk about pricing. Every project is different, and I’d rather give you an accurate picture than a number that doesn’t account for what you actually need.
